ROBBINS LINE
FORMERLY BY EX-CELL-O/ROBBINS
Overview:
This premium line of sine plates from Suburban Tool is a result
of the purchase in 1989 of the Ex-CELL-O/Robbins sine plate
line from Micro Precision, a subsidiary of Textron, Inc.
We have maintained the high quality of these products and follow
the original blueprints and manufacturing procedures.
Changes were made only to improve the product.
The
Robbins line includes sine plates for precision grinding, light
and heavy machining, and inspection applications. There are
many models available for single and compound angular set-ups
in a wide range of sizes from 4" x 4" to
24" x 24". Within this wide range are the
three different types shown below:

MAGNA-SINE
—a magnetic type employing fine pole ceramic magnets

MASTER-SINE—a
non-magnetic plate for inspection and light machining

HEAVY-DUTY
—sine plates for tough machining

Features:
- MAGNA-SINE
compound sine plates have all of the features of the simple
sine plates, plus the addition of an intermediate plate
that allows the setting of compound angles.

as "STANDARD" (as shown) or "OPPOSITE"
hinged.

Features:
- MAGNA-SINE
sine plates are equipped with extremely powerful ceramic
magnet chucks. Dual magnet packs provide 100 lbs. average
per square inch holding power, nearly twice as much
as a standard chuck!
- Chucks
have "major and minor" poles that focus the
magnetic flux at the top plate. This means more concentrated,
effective holding power for thick OR thin
parts and less magnetization of spindles, tables, ways
and other neighboring components.
- Swivel
block provides full face contact with gage blocks keeping
them securely in place.
- The roll
bar is made from hardened steel, ground and lapped for
straightness and roundness.
- Exclusive
locking device inside the hinge roll provides a positive
lock with an expanding action. Both screws lock toward
the front of the unit, pulling the top plate down on
the set-up gage blocks without distortion. Hinge is
made from hardened steel, ground and lapped.
- Angular
accuracy of set-ups is guaranteed to be within 5 seconds
of arc up to 15°, 10 seconds up to 30° and 15 seconds
up to 45°.
- Side and
back rail included.

PLATES FOR ANGULAR MACHINING
WITH POSITIVE, REPETITIVE ACCURACY
The materials for HEAVY-DUTY sine plates are carefully selected
to withstand the thrust and chatter of machining cuts,
during a long life of accurate service.

Features:
- Heavy-Duty
sine plates incorporate all of the features of this standard
Master-Sine plates above, except the top and bottom plates
are made from heavy sectioned iron castings for extra strength.
- Top plates
of both models are T-slotted for convenient clamping of
work pieces. The B-12 has 3/8" slots and the B-24 has
5/8" slots. T-slots are held parallel with the sides
of the top plate within 0.0005".
- Model B-24
is supplied with a built-in ball screw elevating mechanism
for safe and easy opening and closing.
- Hand-flaked
top surface.
- Both models
include extra-heavy locking straps.
